Eirini-Renée Gkatsi
Founding Member
Eirini-Renée Gkatsi is an international law and relations expert, humanitarian professional with ten years of experience working with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), where she has supported crises response efforts and refugee protection programs in Greece, Armenia and Slovakia.
Her work focuses on inclusive, community – centered approached, often involving coordination between government governments, local partners and international organizations.
Currently based in Bratislava, she serves as a Senior Associate for Cash Working Group in Slovakia. Her role combines hands-on field coordination with systems design, monitoring, and collaborative planning to ensue aid reaches those who need it most – in ways that are transparent, responsive and empowering. Renee’s academic background reflects her interdisciplinary approach: she holds three master degrees in Global Health – Disaster Medicine, International Law and Diplomacy and Digital Transformation. She has been involved in research projects exploring refugee education, humanitarian response, and the role of digital tools in crisis settings.
As a founding member of the Digital Democracy Foundation, she is committed to making digital tools more inclusive and digitally accessible. She believes in the power of technology to strengthen democratic participation, especially among displaced and underrepresented communities.
She also contributes to youth-led initiatives and intercultural dialogue platforms, including UNAOC-IOM PLURAL+, Danube for Peace with Media Education Center in Serbia, Kallinga Institute of Social Sciences in Bhubaneswar, India and the International Youth Media Summit in L.A., USA, where she shares insights from the field and support young voices in global discussions.

Ioanna Skondra

Ioanna Skondra is a communications and policy professional with extensive experience in public policy, communications, sustainable development, participatory processes, and the shipping sector
She has held senior roles in both the public and private sectors, including work within the maritime industry, where she has contributed to sustainability strategy, stakeholder engagement, and ESG communications.
She has also served as Special Adviser in three Greek Ministries (Interior, Maritime Affairs, and Health), where she played a key role in shaping European policy, strengthening international cooperation, and advancing environmental strategies, in collaboration with institutions such as the European Commission, UNHCR, and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Ioanna holds a degree in International and European Studies from Panteion University, has studied International Law at Université Montpellier I, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Sustainability in Shipping as well as a Master’s degree in Digital Transformation, focusing on digital diplomacy and digital law.
She is fluent in English, French, and Italian, and has working knowledge of Norwegian and Swedish. Her expertise includes EU funding mechanisms, strategic communications, corporate identity, and sustainability reporting. She has organized seminars and maintains active involvement in NGOs and public sector initiatives.
